Yellow-bellied Marmot #1
I've photographed Yellow-bellied Marmots all over the West, but these are the first Marmot "family portraits" I've ever made. During a too-brief visit to Rocky Mountain National Park in August 2008, I found this loving mother raising her two playful babies on a rocky cliff about 12,000 feet above sea level. These quickly became some of my all-time favorite images.
(On this same trip, I also photographed another pair of "rassling rodents"... Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel babies at play. Click here to see them.)
Other Yellow-bellied Marmot images of equal quality are available, including others from this "family portrait" series.
